If you'd like to practice yoga with a teacher's full attention on
your alignment and breathing, consider which of these two
different types of yoga sessions would best meet your needs.
Personalized
Individual Yoga
Sessions
In-Class
Individual Yoga
Sessions
The personalized yoga session allows
you to explore specific areas of
interest with your yoga teacher. As a
beginner, intermediate, or advanced
student, you can revitalize your yoga
practice with a personalized session or
series of sessions. These sessions are
tailored to fit your needs, so beginners
can work on the fundamentals and
more experienced students can work
on specific needs. They are most
beneficial when combined with regular
practice in classes.

Meet privately with your teacher to
learn how to:
  • Adjust the postures we
    regularly practice in class to
    your existing bodily conditions,
    previous injuries, or other
    physical challenges
  • Prevent injuries in areas prone
    to them
  • Align the body in specific
    postures to maximize the
benefits of the posture for your
    body
  • Let go of habitual movement
    and posture patterns to create
new ways of moving and being
  • Develop deep and regular
    breathing
  • Deepen engagement of the core
area to energize your practice in
    class
  • Work towards specific postures
    you’re not currently practicing,
    by overcoming obstacles of fear
    and tension and building
    strength with sequences
    specifically designed for you
If you have been taking classes
regularly and enjoy the physical
adjustments provided in class, then
your practice can blossom in an in-
class individual yoga session. During a
regular yoga class, you will have the
benefit of two teachers. As the class’s
regular instructor cues the entire class
through the sequence, a second
teacher works with you individually to
guide you through each and every
movement and posture. The teacher’s
hands skillfully make minor and major
adjustments to adapt each posture to
your body and ease areas of tension.
This physical guidance can allow you
to let go of habits of movement and
begin to redistribute muscular effort
more effectively, instead of relying
solely on the muscles that habitually
contract in your body.

The close attention of your teacher
encourages you to remain aware of
your breathing and bodily experience
at every point. From vigorous Sun
Salutations, through standing, seated,
and reclining postures, you are guided
to develop strength, flexibility,
balance, and concentration. In the
final posture, Savasana, you are
carefully adjusted and massaged to
release physical and mental tension,
allowing full and deep relaxation.

Sharon Gannon and David Life
pioneered this technique of in-class
individualized attention, which can be
as therapeutic as a full body massage,
releasing the tension that inhibits full
freedom of movement.

Please speak to your individual
teacher about any conditions that she
needs to know about before the
session, as there will be very little
talking once the class has begun.
Please note: Individual sessions are not a substitute for the care of a doctor or
physical therapist, so if you are currently injured or ill, please see a health-care
professional before planning a yoga session.
These individual sessions can be arranged at several locations. If you are a regular
student in my classes, talk to me after class about setting up individual sessions, or
